Yeah, what trendy doesn’t know the first Darkthrone album? I myself don’t really like it too much. Just the same old death metal from Sweden like we heard 10,000 times before. But no, they are back and they have kicked out some of the old members and play fucking great black metal!!! They changed their style from Swedish death metal to Bathoryish black metal! I believe they are going to release a new album "A Blaze In The Northern Sky" and it should be real great!! No wimpy shit but plain old Bathory-influenced black metal! Now here’s an interview:
How were the reactions to your first album?
Great, and that proves that death metal is trendy. Anyway we hate the first album.
I heard the advance of your new album, more in the old black metal style like Bathory why?
We are the New Darkthrone. We deny old Darkthrone stuff. We formed in 1991. All has changed. Unholy black metal and satanic poetry are us. We hate death metal and trendy scene. We will not be part of it. To isolate is what we must do to make black metal pure! If you want to stop an eventual black metal trend; stop writing a zine and isolate! We, the hordes of satanas are not trying to save everybody, nether do we want to spread our dark knowledge. We are no missionaries! Stay dark and occult. We have fired members of our band and we have nothing to do with old Darkthrone. We have boycotted all live stuff, we do not wish to play with any trendy band.
I heard the title to your new album will be "A Blaze in the Northern Sky", why did you choose it?
A daimon caressed me, I looked up in the sky in awesome inspiration.
Do you have any live experience and how was it?
All shit. Live sucks, audience are mostly silly trend wimps.
What do you think of Satanism and how do you see Satan?
I am a Satanist. I see Satan as clear as crystal.
What is your opinion on Christianity and other holy religions?
We will win for Ophenius and Tiamat.
What do you think of the new death metal bands?
Haha! Stereotyped turbo-thrashers with feeble attitudes.
What are the bands you hate and which do you like?
We like Mayhem and Bathory, Tormentor, early Destruction, Tiamat/Treblinka, Venom, Necromantia, Diamanda Galas… the list could go on for quite a while, but you can guess it’s easy. Any black sounding band. There is no "new black metal" there should only be "old" death metal. I hate most bands, especially Napalm Death and Incubus but now now I don’t care about death metal. I don’t wanna hear about it!!!
Do you think there are too many people with a zine and people who rip you off?
No one can rip us off - we don’t contact the scene much. I just don’t care. Just make more zines and death metal will be more disgusting than New Kids On The Block.
